7 Day Glow Up Challenge: One Small Move a Day
The 7 day glow up challenge works by changing one thing a day and keeping it: day 1 fix your light, day 2 start a simple skin routine, day 3 sort your hair, day 4 tidy brows and grooming, days 5 and 6 work on posture and outfit fit, and day 7 rest and compare a before and after photo. Each move takes 10-20 minutes. By the end of the week you look more rested, polished and put together, without makeup and without touching anything you can't change.
If you want to know which of those seven moves will make the biggest difference for you, Glowmaxx scores your daily selfie on each lever and tells you where to start. Start my glow-up
How the challenge works
Most "glow up in a week" lists hand you 40 tips at once. You try six of them on Monday and none of them by Thursday. This plan is the opposite: one lever a day, stacked. Tuesday's move doesn't replace Monday's. By Sunday you're doing all of them, and each one is small enough to keep.
The rules:
- Day 0: take a "before" photo. Same spot, same time of day, phone at eye level, arm's length or propped up. You'll retake it on day 7 in the exact same setup.
- One move a day. Do the day's task, then keep doing the previous ones.
- Sleep counts every day. Aim for a regular bedtime all week. Tiredness shows.
- Nothing extreme. No crash diets, no harsh DIY skin treatments, nothing that hurts.
Here's the week at a glance:
| Day | Lever | The move | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Light | Find your best light spot | 10 min |
| 2 | Skin | Start cleanse, moisturize, SPF | 10 min |
| 3 | Hair | Trim, condition or restyle | 20 min |
| 4 | Brows and grooming | Brows, nails, facial hair, teeth | 15 min |
| 5 | Posture | Stand, sit and pose taller | 10 min |
| 6 | Fit | Pull your three best-fitting outfits | 20 min |
| 7 | Rest and compare | Sleep in, retake the photo | 5 min |
Day 1: light
Why start with light? Because it's the fastest glow up tip there is, and it makes every other change visible.
- Walk around your home with your front camera open during the day.
- Find the spot where your face is lit evenly from the front, usually facing a window.
- Notice where you look worst: under a ceiling light, with a window behind you, in a yellow lamp.
- Make the good spot your "photo spot" and your mirror spot for the week.
Day 2: skin
This is your 7 day glowing skin challenge, and it's intentionally boring.
- Morning: rinse or gentle cleanse, light moisturizer, sunscreen SPF 30+.
- Night: gentle cleanse, moisturizer.
- Hands off. No picking, no scrubbing hard.
- Water and sleep do more for how skin looks in a week than any new product.
Don't expect clear skin in 7 days. Expect skin that looks less dry, less shiny and more even.
Day 3: hair
- If your ends are split or your cut has grown out, get a trim today. Even a small trim makes hair look healthier in photos.
- If a cut isn't possible, deep-condition or do a hair mask, then learn one simple style you can do in 3 minutes.
- Guys: tidy the neckline and sides, or ask a barber for a clean-up.
- Tame flyaways with a little water or a light product.
Day 4: brows and grooming
Small grooming details add up fast.
- Brows: brush them up, trim any long hairs. Only tweeze obvious strays under the brow. Less is more.
- Facial hair: shave clean or trim to an even length with a defined neckline.
- Nails: trim, file and clean.
- Teeth and lips: brush and floss, use lip balm.
- Deodorant and a clean hoodie. Yes, it counts.
By day 4, a lot of people lose track: did the skin routine actually help, or does it just feel like it? Guessing from the mirror is unreliable because your eyes adjust to your own face. Glowmaxx scores one selfie a day on skin, hair, grooming, posture and angle, and light and fit, with a one-line note each and three moves for today aimed at your lowest lever, so you can see which days are moving the number. Day 5-6: posture and fit
Day 5: posture
Posture changes how you look in photos and in person instantly.
- Wall test: stand with heels, butt, shoulders and the back of your head against a wall. Step away and keep that feeling.
- Phone up: hold your phone at eye level instead of looking down.
- In photos: stand tall, drop your shoulders, push your chin slightly forward and down.
- Set three reminders today to check your posture.
Day 6: fit
The glow up tip nobody talks about: clothes that fit look better than expensive clothes that don't.
- Try on everything you wear often.
- Pull the three outfits that fit best at the shoulders and waist and aren't too long.
- Put anything too big, stretched or faded to the back.
- Pick colors you get compliments in. Solid colors usually photograph better than busy prints.
Day 7: rest and compare
Sleep in if you can, drink water, and then retake your day-0 photo in the exact same spot, light, distance and angle.
Put them side by side. What to look for:
- Do you look more rested?
- Is your hair neater?
- Does your skin look more even?
- Are you standing taller?
Be fair to yourself. A one week glow up won't change everything, but you should see a difference in the things you worked on. If you want to keep going, the how to glow up in 2 weeks plan builds on this, and the 30 day glow up challenge takes it further.
How to glow up in a week without makeup
Everything above is makeup-free. Light, sleep, skin care, hair, grooming, posture and fit do the work.

FAQ
Can you really glow up in a week?
Yes, in the things that move fast: looking rested, better light in photos, neater hair and grooming, better posture and better-fitting clothes. Skin and body changes take longer. A week is enough to see a clear difference if you do one change a day and keep it.
What should I do each day of a 7 day glow up?
Day 1 light, day 2 skin, day 3 hair, day 4 brows and grooming, day 5 posture, day 6 outfit fit, day 7 rest and compare. Keep each day's habit going as you add the next.
How to glow up in a week without makeup?
Focus on sleep, a simple cleanse-moisturize-SPF routine, a trim or new style, groomed brows and nails, better posture and clothes that fit. Take your photos in good window light. None of it needs makeup.
Is the 7 day glow up challenge good for guys?
Yes. The levers are the same for everyone. Guys can swap in a beard trim or clean shave on day 4 and a barber clean-up on day 3.
What's the best way to compare my one week glow up?
Take the before and after photo in the same spot, same time of day, same distance and angle. Otherwise you're comparing lighting, not your glow up.
